As anyone who reads my blog know, I’m a big fan of Kickstarter. I was able to acquire the benefits of owning a CNC machine for about 1/10th the cost of a commercial system. I’ve also recently backed a dual extruder project, which just funded.
Today I noticed that the OUYA tv open source gaming platform has raised over 5 Million USD, with over 40,000 backers, and it hasn’t closed yet! I’m curious if this is the biggest kickstart ever or not, but that’s one heck of a demonstration of interest in this market. It’s basically $100 for a console and 1 controller. Not bad considering today’s prices for a closed-source console.
