The EyeCam, or What I’ve been up to the past 12 months…

So over the past year I’ve been working on a product which I can finally talk about. It’s a retinal imager which uses the iPhone 5/5S as a capture/storage system. For now the only specs I can give is that the images are wide field, and that it’s intended for patients who are dilated. It’s been quite a labor but I’m really happy with the results. Below are some pics of the finished prototype units. What’s been really cool has been the rapid prototyping of these devices. It’s amazing what can be done with modern SLA machines! The tan pics show my 3rd gen iteration, where the black/white units are the 4th gen. This is intended to be a low cost system, while producing high quality images similar to what is obtained from currently available fundus cameras.
